The Admissions and Wait List Process
Enrollment in Daycare programs is open to children 3 years of age through Grade 6. Admissions are based on the current waiting list. While anyone may fill out the applications to attend Jackman Community Daycare, a child must reside in the Jackman School District to be considered for registration for full time preschool. In addition, children admitted to the Daycare for JK to Grade 6 must be registered at and attend Jackman School.
Admissions are based on the current waiting list.
For more information on our wait list procedures please click here.
When an application is completed and returned to the Daycare it is is filed in the appropriate program binder in the Daycare Office. Children’s names are grouped by the year they were born and new applications are placed at the back of each wait list. We do not have a sibling policy, all applications are filed based based on when they are received.
Preschool & kindergarten intake usually takes place in April, with a start date of September 1. Families are called in the order in which their child’s application appears on the waiting list. The children are moved up to the next room based on their grade in school.
There is no application fee; however a non-refundable registration fee of $75.00 is required when placement is offered. Parents must also provide 2 pieces of proof that they do, in fact, live in Jackman’s catchment area before their child can be admitted. In addition, post-dated cheques and all forms, including medical and emergency information forms, must be submitted during the registration process.

Children in the Nursery School program are not in the Daycare stream and therefore are given no consideration for admission to the Daycare’s JK B &A program the following year.
The Nursery School program is part-time and runs during the school year from 9:00 to 11:30 AM in Room 105. Families may choose to attend 2, 3 or 5 days per week. This program is designed for 3-year-old children and focuses on socialization and learning play skills. There are maximum 16 children in this program per day. The Nursery School program does not operate on any Toronto District School Board (TDSB) declared holidays, P.A. Days, March Break or during the summer.
